Ella
I found Ella and her son Enzo homeless in Alabama as I was driving in March 2021 from Florida to the ranch in Morris. They had been living on the street for a while, both were heartworm positive and intact and so malnourished that I didn't realize Ella was pregnant until 2 weeks before she gave birth to 7 adorable puppies.
Ella is the absolute sweetest and most perfect dogs ever and has yet to meet a stranger. Literally everyone who meets her immediately loves her. She's approx. 8 years old in 2025 and will make the perfect Therapy dog which I am working on getting her licensed for.
Ella is currently located in Big Bear, California and hopefully becoming a Therapy dog soon.
Lola
Lola is an American Pit Bull Terrier according to DNA testing, was born approx. 2020 and weighs a good 50 lbs. She came from Louisiana where she'd been abused by a (male) shelter worker in the public (kill) shelter, repeatedly. So unsurprisingly she became wary of people and came to us being a fear snapper. Lola has gone through a tremendous transformation within the last 3 years. She has learnt to trust again, has become the absolute cutest love bug, loves to be cuddled and handled, picked up and rolled around, kissed and spoilt. Lola has built up her confidence enough to be happy to meet strangers and if they are calm-assertive she'll make fast friends. She listens really well and follows me around like my shadow. She does love tracking scents and loves running around and is great off leash. She will need an active human who will take her trail riding, hiking or running. At home she is excellent. She loves her crate and cushy dog beds, and will just sleep until it's time for the next walk. She loves all dogs, is good with cats, has learnt to be good around chickens and ducks, goats, donkeys and horses. She is learning about and getting better with bicycles. Lola is located in Big Bear, California.
Mattie
Mattie’s journey hasn't been the easiest—he was abandoned in the high desert, which explains why he is slow to fully trust new people at first. He just needs a little time, grace, and patience to realize he is safe. Once you're in his circle of trust, Mattie becomes your ultimate "ride or die"—an incredibly affectionate, sweet, playful and devoted shadow who adores snuggles, adventures, and staying right by your side.
Mattie is house and crate trained but really enjoys snuggling next you on the sofa all bundled up and hidden in a blanket.
He absolutely loves going on walks and hitting the trails for hiking adventures! Whether exploring a new path or keeping watch over the backyard, he brings a fun, adventurous energy to every outing.
Around the house, his absolute favorite hobby is hunting for small critters, sniffing around every corner, and exploring the yard to his heart's content.
Mattie would thrive in an active, patient, and understanding home that can give him space to settle in at his own pace while involving him in outdoor fun. A securely fenced yard where he can safely patrol, along with a family eager for trail walks, would be a dream come true.
Honey
Meet Honey — a chocolate English Lab and, in my totally biased opinion, the perfect Lab girl! She's sweet, friendly, social, and incredibly playful. Honey has never met a stranger and greets everyone like an old friend — with plenty of kisses to go around.
Honey is approximately 3 years old, 80lbs, and house trained. She was used as a breeding dog before being dumped in the High Desert with her puppy; by the time she was rescued, her puppy had already been taken in by someone else, leaving Honey behind on her own.
When we found her, she had wounds and skin issues, and looked like she might be pregnant (thankfully, she wasn't). A Cytopoint shot and a dexamethasone injection took away all her itching, but it's still unclear whether the underlying cause was an allergy or her previous diet — so we're hoping for an adopter who's willing to work through any medical issues that may come up down the road. She's scheduled to be spayed later this month.
Honey is ready for a foster home now, and we're also open to foster-to-adopt for the right match.
